CERAMIC VENEERS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE DECIDING
Aesthetics · 10 January 2024
Veneers are the thinnest layer of ceramic bonded to the front surface of a tooth. They change colour, shape and proportion without removing healthy tooth. The result: a smile that looks like yours — only more perfect. This guide answers all the questions patients ask before deciding.
What are ceramic veneers?
A veneer is a thin ceramic plate 0.3–0.7 mm thick that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. It is not a crown — the tooth is not fully shaped down, only the front surface is lightly reduced to accommodate the veneer.
Ceramic imitates the optical properties of a natural tooth — translucency, shine, colour. This is why the result looks natural even to patients who have worn them for years.
When are veneers the right solution?
Veneers are ideal for:
Teeth with permanent discolouration (fluorosis, tetracycline staining)
Minor crookedness and irregularities without orthodontic need
Gaps between teeth (diastema)
Chipped or worn teeth
Uneven tooth lengths
Hollywood Smile — complete aesthetic transformation
What does the procedure look like?
Day 1: Examination and planning
Dr Marko examines your teeth, discusses the desired appearance and shows you a digital preview. We agree on the number of veneers, shape and shade.
Day 2: Reduction and impression
Under anaesthesia the front surface of the tooth is lightly reduced. A digital impression is taken and sent to the laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed.
Day 3–4: Placement
The finished ceramic veneers are bonded to the teeth. Final bite adjustment and polishing. You leave the clinic with a new smile.

Avoid excessive consumption of staining foods (coffee, tea, red wine)
Frequently asked questions
How much do dental veneers cost in Belgrade?
A ceramic veneer at BeoSmile costs €250 per tooth. For a Hollywood Smile (8–12 veneers) prices start from €2,000. In Germany the same veneers cost from €800 to €1,200 per tooth.
Is veneer placement painful?
Veneer placement is done under local anaesthesia. You feel no pain during the procedure. Mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards resolves on its own.
How much tooth reduction is needed for veneers?
For a classic veneer, about 0.5–0.7 mm of the front surface of the tooth is reduced. Ultra-thin veneers (prepless/no-prep) also exist requiring minimal or no reduction — but they are not suitable for all cases.
How long do ceramic veneers last?
With proper care, ceramic veneers last 10–15 years, often longer. The key is avoiding biting hard objects (ice, pencils), regular hygiene and check-up appointments.
