BELGRADE FOR THE WEEKEND — AND A NEW SMILE
Travel · 5 December 2023
More and more patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are combining dental treatment with a short break in Belgrade. Logical: the flight takes an hour and a half, prices are half as expensive, and Belgrade is perfect for a two-day break between appointments.
Why Belgrade?
Belgrade is the fourth largest city in south-eastern Europe. Rich history, vibrant café culture, excellent food — and prices that are 3–4x lower than in Germany. A night in a good hotel costs €60–80, lunch in a restaurant €8–15.
For diaspora patients — especially those who last visited Serbia as children — a trip to Belgrade is also a sentimental journey. Come for your teeth, return with a visit to the city.
Ideal 5-day schedule (veneers/crowns)
Arrival
Landing in Belgrade. Accommodation in the centre. Dinner in a café — we recommend grilled meats or fish on Skadarlija street.
Examination and planning
Morning appointment at the clinic — examination, X-ray, treatment plan. Afternoon free for a walk along Knez Mihailova and Kalemegdan.
Reduction and temporary veneers
Appointment for tooth reduction and digital impression. Temporary veneers placed. Rest of the day free.
Free day
Laboratory prepares the veneers. Use the day to visit museums, go shopping or take a trip to Zemun.
Placement and departure
Morning appointment — final veneer placement, bite check, polishing. Midday flight home.
Practical travel tips
Nikola Tesla Airport is 18 km from the centre. Taxi costs ~€15, Uber ~€12.
Serbian Dinar (RSD) is the currency — exchange at the airport or in the city centre. Cards work everywhere.
Belgrade city centre is smaller than it looks — everything is walkable within 15–20 minutes.
The clinic can recommend tried-and-tested accommodation nearby.
WhatsApp and Viber are the standard communication in Serbia.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are needed for dental treatment in Belgrade?
For veneers and whitening 3–5 days is quite sufficient. For implants two visits are usually needed (2–3 days for placement, check-up/crowns 3–6 months later). For Hollywood Smile plan 7–10 days.
Which hotels are near the clinic?
The clinic is in central Belgrade. We recommend apartments or hotels in the centre (Terazije, Knez Mihailova, Old Town). Prices are significantly lower than in Germany — a good apartment costs €50–80 per night.
Does Belgrade have direct flights from Germany, Austria and Switzerland?
Yes. Direct flights exist from Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich. Duration: 1h30–2h. Return ticket prices vary from €80 to €200 depending on season and airline.
What to do in Belgrade between dental appointments?
Belgrade has plenty to offer: Kalemegdan fortress and Old Town, the raft restaurants on the Sava, cafés, museums, fast food and restaurants for every taste. The city is pleasant and the pedestrian zone is large — easy to walk between appointments.
